The far-right thinks the answer to their electoral problems is to ban any information that contradicts their worldview. [Leaders We Deserve]( {NAME}, Before I co-founded Leaders We Deserve with my friend David Hogg, I was the campaign manager for Maxwell Frost, who’s now serving as the first Gen-Z Member of Congress. Since being elected, Maxwell like most Americans has watched in horror as Republicans wage a war on our already underfunded teachers and education system. Why? It’s because education leads to a more tolerant society. Republicans know that their regressive agenda of hate can only succeed if they can continue blaming minority groups for systematic problems our society has which are caused by the corruption of the very government that the GOP has helped to break. For example, if people knew that millions of manufacturing jobs have been taken not by immigrants but actually by automation it would make it a lot harder to justify their hate. That is why last week, I was super proud to see Maxwell fighting back against the fascist book bans we’ve been seeing across the country by introducing legislation to help stop it. [Rep. Maxwell Frost is taking the lead in fighting back against the fascist book bans we've seen appear across the country by introducing legislation to help stop these bans.]( [Pitch in $5 to elect more young leaders like Maxwell →]( Republicans all over the country have been working to ban books that don’t align with their far-right worldview from public libraries, including in our public schools. Any book that mentions climate change, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ folks is at risk of being targeted for removal, and Maxwell’s new legislation is meant to fight back by providing the funds public schools need to defend their libraries. The truth is Republicans know their agenda is unpopular. Young people today lean overwhelmingly to the left, and the far right thinks the answer to their electoral problems is to ban any information that contradicts their worldview and indoctrinate kids into supporting them. It’s complete BS, and it’s why we’re working so hard to elect even more young people like Maxwell who aren’t afraid to fight back. We’re planning to elect a whole slate of young leaders across the country in 2024, but {NAME}, we need your help to do it. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
