I want to make it abundantly clear: No form of political violence is acceptable. {NAME}, This weeken

I want to make it abundantly clear: No form of political violence is acceptable. [Leaders We Deserve]( {NAME}, This weekend, former President Trump was attacked at one of his rallies in Pennsylvania. I want to make it abundantly clear: NO form of political violence is acceptable. Ever. I hope former President Trump, the members of his detail and rally crowd make a speedy recovery and join the country in mourning the lives lost due to gun violence. What happened in Butler is not okay and what happens every day to kids who aren’t the president and don’t survive isn’t either. It’s insane that we have such a major problem with gun violence in America that no one – not even a presidential candidate – is safe. Easy access to firearms is a threat to our democracy – not only as threats to those running for office, but to our democratic norms that would be violated by retaliatory violence. We need to end gun violence. We’ve seen gun violence claim lives in Parkland with a cop assigned to our campus, in Uvalde with hundreds of police, and now at the former President’s rally with Secret Service protection. It should be crystal clear that we have failed in passing policy to prevent shootings like this from happening. There’s no conspiracy. The fact of the matter is that it’s way too easy to access firearms in the United States and no one is safe. Not kids. Not teachers. Not parents. Not even a former President. We must do better. Leaders We Deserve is about giving people an opportunity to peacefully participate in our democracy, by supporting young candidates who'll be the next generation of policymakers, thinkers, and problem-solvers. When you volunteer or donate to orgs like LWD, you are making your voice heard in a way that keeps democracy alive and repudiates violence as a form of political protest. We hope you will join us in our mission to see a better future for generations to come. It’s on us to do better. Hopefully one day events like this weekend and stories about shootings we see everyday about gun violence will be left in our history books and not our headlines. Thank you for helping to make that possible through your support of Leaders We Deserve. David Hogg Leaders We Deserve This email was sent to [{EMAIL}](#).
