Bryce Berry is a leader we deserve in the Georgia legislature. [Leaders We Deserve]( Big news out of Georgia last night, {NAME}! Two of our Leaders-endorsed candidates, Bryce Berry and Ashwin Ramaswami, won their primaries and will now face off against Republicans in November. Today, I want to talk a little bit about Bryce Berry’s race and why it is so important that we win this crucial Atlanta-area House seat back from the GOP in November. Bryce is a young Atlanta public school teacher, non-profit leader, and community organizer who is running on a platform of economic development, strong public education, affordable housing and health care, and solutions to reduce gun violence. He decided to run when one day his principal told him that one of his students had witnessed his father get shot and killed in front of him the night before — when Bryce checked in with the student, he said “It’s ok, this kind of thing happens all the time.” When Bryce witnessed the normalization of gun violence so close, he knew he had to do more for his students. That is why he’s running against GOP State Rep. Mesha Mainor, a former Democrat who switched parties and became a Republican after voting to defund Georgia’s public schools last year.1 Mainor is completely out of touch with this district. [Bryce won his primary, but now the real fight begins. Can you rush in a $5 donation to help Bryce defeat his party-switching opponent in November?]( {NAME}, President Biden only won Georgia by 11,779 votes in 2020.2 And with swing state polls showing Biden’s support eroding among young, non-white voters3, we need progressive candidates of color like Bryce on the ballot more than ever. Bryce’s race is an opportunity to not only return this important legislative seat back to Democratic control, but also a way to help Biden turn out the voters he’ll need on his side in order to win the state of Georgia again and secure his reelection. We are going to be pouring resources into this race to ensure a big win in this election, but we can only elect the next generation of leaders with your support.
