When students join Launch School, they sign up expecting to be challenged technically. What can sometimes come as a surprise is the level of demand for soft skills. Being able to manage time, communicate clearly, and interact with others is just as much a part of the expectations here as any of the technical skills. Because of this, we host several workshops that serve as supplemental material covering topics that aren’t covered in the course work itself. Next week, we are running two workshops, one on improving your soft skills for interviews, and one on using the best science-backed techniques for retaining what you learn. On Tuesday, March 12th at 6pm US Eastern, Trevor will host “The Science and Practice of Studying.” You’ll learn about the best techniques to retain what you learn based on science, and how to make the most of your time. [Register]( Join Brandi on Thursday, March 14th at 6pm US Eastern for “The Power of Soft Skills: Your Guide to Interviewing with Confidence.” Gain insight into how your behavior during an interview impacts the perception of your abilities, and learn techniques to improve your presence. [Register]( As a reminder, daylight savings time will begin on March 10th, meaning that US Eastern is now Eastern Daylight Time. You can check when the workshops will take place in your local time when you register. The TAs here at Launch School work hard to put together and present material that is beneficial to students at all stages in their journeys, whether or not you’ve subscribed to the Launch School curriculum. We hope you’ll join them! Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
