Many students find that they must approach their studies here at Launch School with a different mindset than they may have had during previous education. This difference can leave new students feeling lost and unsure of how to approach the curriculum. To encourage Launch School students to embrace this mastery-based learning approach and employ productive study habits, we are once again hosting our popular Neuroscience-based workshop: “The Science and Practice of Studying” runs live on Tuesday, October 3rd at 6pm US Eastern. In this workshop, Trevor explores the trends in the science of learning, including one protocol to maximize neuroplasticity. [Register for the "Science and Practice of Studying" workshop]( Later in the week on Thursday, Clare will be introducing students to the world of Github. Github is a fundamental tool that you’ll use at every stage of your journey. “From Local to Global: Discovering the World of Github” will be presented on Thursday, October 5th at 5pm US Eastern. Clare will start at square one, from creating an account to downloading and uploading files from Github. [Register for “From Local to Global: Discovering the World of Github”]( These workshops are free and open to everyone, regardless of your Launch School subscription status. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
