Hi everybody! Luke here with another Community Update. , so if you haven't already, go check it out.

Hi everybody! Luke here with another Community Update. [:v:] I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Labor Day weekend. I mostly stayed at home, but I did "visit" #the-spot's virtual study space, Gather Town, to meet a fellow student for a study session. I really wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a really cool experience! Essentially, you're a little avatar that can walk around, bump into other people, jump into conversations, and enter private rooms with CoderPads for study sessions. I can definitely see it being a great way to [de-isolate your studying](, so if you haven't already, go check it out. Plus, you might even bump into Chris! Btw, I think those are go-karts, not scooters, Chris. [] Someone added scooters to our Gather town space 🛵 [pic.twitter.com/zwMFiBQHPl]( — Chris Lee (@cglee) [September 2, 2022]( Anyway, let's dive in! This one's not too long. --------------------------------------------------------------- Important Updates Learn to Program Workshops We've got some really big news -- we're starting a brand new set of free programming workshops for beginning programs! The Learn to Program Workshops are free and available to everybody -- you do not have to be a registered Launch School student. Our first 3 workshops will meet the week of September 12th-16th: Grace will guide you through JavaScript’s different data types including strings, integers, and objects. You will also learn how variables, output and return values work along with how to code using a Cloud9 environment. [Join Grace on September 12th at 8pm EDT.]( Trevor will walk you through how to set the right expectations for studying at Launch School including learning what a successful study session looks like, study tactics and how to know when you're ready to tackle an assessment. [Join Trevor on September 15th at 12pm EDT (noon!).]( Clare will take you through Ruby’s different data types including strings, integers, and objects. You will also learn how variables, output and return values work along with how to code using a Cloud9 environment. [Join Clare on September 16th at 12pm EDT (noon!).]( More sessions are coming soon, so keep an eye out for the announcements! Capstone Presentation Videos We just finished up another stunning series of Capstone presentations. Another huge round of applause for the teams behind Bubble, Tailslide, Arroyo, Fána, Seymour, Conifer, and Kuri! 🎉 If you missed any of these presentations, don't worry. We've recorded them so you can watch at your own leisure. [Check them out](! Podcast S4E5: Transforming at Launch School [:studio_microphone:] In the latest podcast episode, Chris and Karis discuss an inspiring talk given by Core graduate student Jake. Chris also answers some questions like how ISAs work, and Karis interviews Capstone graduate Catherine who shares how life has been as a software engineer 1.5 years after her studies at Launch School. There are also a few announcements about latest events. [Take a listen](! JavaScript Book Videos 🦏 Our students love video content, so, once again, we've got another batch of helpful videos -- nearly 80 of them! We are happy to announce a new set of video walkthroughs to accompany our [Introduction to Programming with JavaScript Book](. These walk-throughs should help you better understand the fundamental concepts of JavaScript. (Thanks again for the videos, Ginni!) --------------------------------------------------------------- Routine Updates Articles I'm always so impressed by the insightful articles written by our students and community members.
