A Conservative Dem just vowed to "defeat" Brad >> Dear {NAME}: When Brad tweeted congratulations to the NY progressives who led the charge to expand early voting, he got an unexpected response. Senator Diane Savino, former IDC member and one of the most conservative Democrats in NYC, vowed to defeat him (!?). While we’ve been working hard to take back the White House and flip the Senate in 2020, this exchange highlights the challenge ahead: Even common sense reforms like early voting face fierce, well-funded opposition in New York, often from other Democrats. From his days organizing for housing rights in Brooklyn to taking on the IDC in Albany, Brad has never backed down from challenging the establishment in his own party -- and to bring bold, progressive change to New York City, we need his fearlessness and strong leadership in citywide office. Our campaign is fueled entirely by grassroots supporters like you. We’re aiming to raise $5,090 by the end of the month to stay on track. Every $1 you donate is matched by $8 in public financing -- can you please chip in $20.20 or any amount now? [CHIP IN $20.20]( Looking at the long lines and high enthusiasm for voting across the city, you’ve got to wonder: How can you be a New York Democrat in 2020 and oppose early voting? But it was only up until two years ago that the group of corporate-funded Democrats, the “Independent Democratic Conference” or IDC that Senator Savino was a part of, joined with Republicans to block any progress on voting rights. Thanks to the organizing we did together with a broad coalition of New Yorkers, we succeeded in dissolving the IDC and replacing almost every member of the group with progressive leaders like Zellnor Myrie, Alessandra Biaggi, and Jessica Ramos -- paving the way for reforms like early voting, tenant protections, and criminal justice reform. We defeated the IDC as a voting bloc that helped Republicans block progressive legislation. However, conservative Democrats who oppose democracy reforms are still here (if you want to blame someone for the long lines at the polls this week, blame the Governor who refused to allocate sufficient funding to effectively implement the reforms we won). As Comptroller, Brad won’t stop challenging the status quo and demanding we follow through on our commitments to progressive change with real resources. So it’s no wonder why his opponents are taking big checks from for-profit developers and other special interests to take him on! [So if you’re able, please step up with a donation of $20.20 or any amount today. Every dollar we raise means more time organizing to win in the days and months ahead -- because we won't be finished on November 3rd →]( [CONTRIBUTE]( We know you’re getting a lot of requests for donations. Anything you can give is deeply appreciated. -- Team Lander Lander for NYC 456 5th Avenue Third Floor Suite 2 Brooklyn, NY 11215 United States info@landerfornyc.com [unsubscribe](
