The order flow is coming fast and furious as we look to break out of the holiday doldrums, and we saw an earnings play in software developer GitLab, which reports today after the close. A big-money trader [swooped in and scooped some weekly puts]( with the stock up over 1% to 2% most of the day ahead of the report. Shares of GTLB are around $53, so these puts are a few dollars out of the money… Does that mean it’s a bad play? Not necessarily, but I would like to see it a little closer because out-of-the-money puts are usually a hedge against a long stock position in case it tanks on earnings — think of it as insurance. But the trader paid above the ask, dropping a total of $264K in premium, and market makers are implying a move of just over $8 higher or lower, so these could be worth a dice roll!
