'Spitting Gold' Carmella Lowkis' debut novel, "Spitting Gold," is not a book I would've organically picked up, but I bought and read it for Pocket Books Shop's monthly general/fiction book club. "Spitting Gold" features two sisters, Sylvie and Charlotte, who now live completely different lives in Paris in 1866. In a former life, they were spirit mediums that didn't fully believe in spirits, but admired being able to help people cope through their feelings of loss. Things get messy when Charlotte appears, seemingly out of the ether, to ask her sister for one last seance. The novel, which is somewhat a historical fiction novel but reads surprisingly modern, features a fun dual POV, and makes you question if the ghosts in the novel are real, or some elaborate ploy. Squirrel this title away for early fall. Did we spot you? [6680a88929560 image] Our photographers are always out and about.
