As you can imagine, the build-up to the festive season for a retailer can be somewhat manic, so being able to press pause was just what we needed! Many of us have spent it with family and friends; others have taken the time to relax with some travel. But one thing we all have in common is that we've slowed down, which has been, well, simply wonderful. Personally, slowing down has given me an opportunity to reflect and think about 2018, and I'm sure you've done the same. Looking back at last year, it was all about finding exciting new discoveries to surprise and delight you with, such as our ingenious microwave toastie maker and, of course, celebrating your favourite items like the Good Housekeeping Institute-approved Dry:Soon Heated Airer, which had its 10th anniversary. It's important you know that we don't just sell amazing products, we live and breathe them too – we're cooks, bakers and home-makers ourselves so we really do put our all into finding the very best innovations for you. 2019 is set to be another good year, not only because we're looking forward to sharing more great ideas with you, but because the upcoming year allows us to revisit our goals and aspirations as a brand. Whilst the New Year is centred around fresh starts and new beginnings, which for some may mean resolutions that involve giving something up – we'd like to flip that on its head and offer you a promise instead. We want to be a truly extraordinary retailer, one that you'll always hold close to you, not just for 2019, but for many years to come. You may be concerned about the ever-changing retail landscape and we'd be lying if we said it didn't concern us too. But with nearly 60 years under our belt, and with such a loyal customer base, we'll be doing everything in our power to ensure we are there for you – for the long run! We believe wholeheartedly that you are the core of our business and so, this year, we hope you'll notice some changes that make your interactions with us even more special. Thank you again for your continued support. If you're visiting us soon, we hope you enjoy our January sale offerings and, if not, that we can welcome you in the not-too-distant future. Happy New Year and best wishes, [Catherine] Catherine Nunn (Chief Executive) and the Lakeland Team This email has been sent to you by Lakeland Limited, trading as Lakeland. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
