Anti-choice politicians who refused to listen to our warnings have blood on their hands. [To unsubscribe click here.]( Team, As an OB/GYN — these headlines don't just break my heart, they make me furious: [Abortion Bans Have Delayed Emergency Medical Care. In Georgia, Experts Say This Mother’s Death Was Preventable. At least two women in Georgia died after they couldn’t access legal abortions and timely medical care in their state, ProPublica has found. This is one of their stories.]( [Afraid to Seek Care Amid Georgia’s Abortion Ban, She Stayed at Home and Died Candi Miller’s family said she didn't visit a doctor “due to the current legislation on pregnancies and abortions.” Maternal health experts deemed her death preventable and blamed Georgia’s abortion ban.]( [A dramatic rise in pregnant women dying in Texas after abortion ban Exclusive analysis finds the rate of maternal deaths in Texas increased 56% from 2019 to 2022, compared with just 11% nationwide during the same time period.]( Abortion bans are KILLING women — and anti-choice politicians don't care. How do we know? Because advocates specifically warned them this would happen. This is why I sued to reinstate abortion access for Wisconsin patients after the MAGA Supreme Court struck down Roe. It's why I've always fought to provide comprehensive reproductive health care — including abortion — to my patients. Because our health is not a political football. It's life and death. I'm running for office because women and girls in this country don't just need pro-choice doctors. They need pro-choice politicians who will put a stop to this bloodshed. [Please help me become the first pro-choice OB/GYN in Congress by donating $10 to my campaign right now:]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be processed immediately: [EXPRESS DONATE $10]( [EXPRESS DONATE $25]( [EXPRESS DONATE $50]( [EXPRESS DONATE $100]( [EXPRESS DONATE $250]( [EXPRESS DONATE OTHER]( Amber Nicole Thurman had a 6-year-old son and dreams of going to nursing school. She died just weeks after Georgia's abortion ban went into effect because doctors delayed performing a D&C — a common practice I've performed countless times for my patients. Candi Miller's doctors warned that having another baby could kill her. Georgia's abortion ban didn't include exceptions for chronic conditions like hers, so she attempted a medical abortion at home. She died in bed, leaving behind her husband and 3 kids. As a doctor, I want to emphasize that medication abortion is incredibly safe. The maternal mortality panel who reviewed these cases made it clear: It's the culture of fear — for patients and doctors — created by Georgia's abortion ban that killed them. When I became a doctor, I took an oath to do no harm. The anti-choice politicians who are passing these bans? They are doing harm. They are causing extreme amounts of trauma and even death. Amber and Candi's blood is on their hands. I can't sit by and watch while this happens. [I'm fighting the same fight I have for years — to make sure people can get the health care they need. This time the arena is just a little different. Will you pitch in $10 or whatever you can to help me take this fight to Congress?]( Thanks for being a part of this team, Kristin Lyerly [Contribute]( PAID FOR BY KRISTIN LYERLY FOR CONGRESS If you'd like to unsubscribe you can [click here.]( Checks can be sent to Friends of Kristin for Wisconsin at 1794 Allouez Ave Ste C #133 Green Bay, WI 54311
