[View this email in your browser]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Forward]( [Kitco Metals]( Editor's Picks [@neils_C]( Buckle up, the biggest week for the mining sector is finally here! Investors, market analysts, and mining executives from around the world will head to Toronto this weekend to participate in the [2018 Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC)]( convention. PDAC is the world’s largest mining conference and with so much information, it can be overwhelming but don’t worry. As always, Kitco News has got you covered. The entire team is heading to the conference to provide you with the best coverage of what’s what in the mining sector. You can catch [Daniela Cambone]( sitting down and talking with the heavyweights in the mining sector. You can also follow Anna Golubova [@annagolubova]( and [@KitcoNewsNOW]( on social media as she will be providing live updates from the conference floor and the various presentations. Innovation is once again going to be one of the dominant themes of this conference. Robots will be on display and be doing live presentations at the Northern Ontario Showcase. The conference comes as sentiment in the precious metals market remains relatively positive even if gold has recently struggled to find momentum. Prices appear to be caught in a new trading range; however, some analysts have noted that gold continues to find a friend in U.S. President Donald Trump. Gold managed to bounce off a two-month low after Trump announced that his administration would place a 25% tariff on steel imports and a 10% tariff on aluminum. The announcement has sparked fresh concerns that a global trade war is on the horizon, which many expect would have a significant impact on the worldwide economy. Volatility picked up, equities dropped, the U.S. dollar fell and gold prices moved higher. “An environment of lower growth and higher prices are going to be positive for gold,” Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, told Kitco News. The gold market is ending its second week of losses, but prices are well off their two-months lows, settling the week at $1,323.40 an ounce. You can expect that global political uncertainty is going to be another significant topic during PDAC 2018. Many analysts expect that this uncertainty will keep a bid under gold and as gold goes so does the mining sector. So that is it for this week. If you are in Toronto for PDAC, please some to the Kitco Stage and say hello to the team.
