Robert, The scariest call Iâve ever received was from my daughter on the day that her school went into lockdown. She called me while crouched under her desk. There were reports of a person with a gun on school property, and she didnât know what was going to happen. It was terrifying. Thankfully, no one was hurt that day. But too often, thatâs not the outcome. Gun violence is an epidemic in our country that has taken too many lives, while Republicans do nothing but send their âthoughts and prayers.â Our children shouldnât fear for their lives at school, the mall, or a bowling alley. In Congress, I will fight nonstop to pass common-sense gun safety laws. That means creating universal background checks, passing red flag laws, ending the gun show loophole, and, yes, banning assault weapons. This isnât about control.
