Robert, This week, two Republicans in the Arizona Legislature broke with their party, giving Democrats the votes they needed to repeal the 1864 abortion ban. This is a win — but the fight for reproductive rights in Arizona is far from over. The repeal won’t take effect for 90 days. That means there’s still a window where women in Arizona could be denied access to abortions, or doctors could be prosecuted for providing basic reproductive healthcare to their patients. And after the 1864 ban is repealed, a 15-week abortion ban supported by my opponent will take effect. Let’s be clear: this is still an unacceptable infringement on women’s reproductive rights — one I will fight to end in Congress. My opponent vetted the Arizona Supreme Court judges who voted in favor of the barbaric 1864 ban. He celebrated on social media when Roe v. Wade was overturned. He voted to restrict access to abortion pills nationwide. And he endorsed Trump, who said this week that he would allow state governments to monitor women’s pregnancies and prosecute violators of the ban. The government has no place in making these decisions. In the House, I will pass legislation to protect reproductive freedom and women’s privacy. She’s ready to take that fight to Washington to find common-sense solutions to the challenges we’re facing here in Arizona's Sixth Congressional District. In 2022, Kirsten lost her race by one of the smallest margins in the country.
