AUGUST 14, 2020 [View in browser]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK The U.S. COVID-19 infection rate showed further improvement this week at 53,153 daily new cases over the past seven days, down from 63,240 at the end of July. Ariz. has achieved the most progress, bringing its seven-day average of 2,530 daily new cases down to 1,021. Other states showing definite improvement include Ala., Fla., La., N.C., Nev., Okla., S.C., Tex. and Utah. This treatment eliminates the virus, calms the cytokine storm of overreacting immune cells, and repairs some of the damage to the patient’s body those storms cause. Preliminary trials have proven successful, and the results of a new trial are likely by the end of September. Companies involved include Mesoblast, Ltd. ([MESO]( and Osiris Therapeutics. If you’re tired of working from home after all these months, several countries have a deal for you: Affordable long-term visas that let tourists spend an extended stay. For instance, Barbados is charging $2,000 for a visa. Bermuda, just $263, according to this week’s issue of The Kiplinger Letter. Visitors are required to meet minimum income requirements and have their own health insurance. If a balmy island isn’t your cup of tea, a couple of European countries have similar opportunities. Estonia plans to let American workers stay awhile, once the European Union lifts it current ban on American visitors. Georgia, the former Soviet Republic, is already welcoming Americans.
