Deadlines around required minimum distributions (RMDs) and Medicare Advantage are coming up as soon as this weekend. Missing out on these could cause you problems down the road. On the Medicare side, if you’re a [Medicare Advantage]( enrollee looking to switch plans, you have a deadline of March 31 to do so. Typically, your first RMD, the minimum amount of money that must be withdrawn from certain retirement plan accounts once you reach a particular age, is due by April 1. But this year is a little odd. The [SECURE 2.0 Act]( raised the RMD age to 73 and is now in effect. If you reached age 72 in 2022, before SECURE 2.0 was in effect, you should have taken your first RMD for 2022 on or before April 1, 2023. That means if you turned 73 in 2023, you already went through this process. But if you turn 73 this year, in 2024, you should be aware of what comes next.
