Are they really just MLMs? ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Here's what most people think will happen when they launch a referral program for their newsletter. Each subscriber will refer 2 people. Then those 2 new subscribers will refer two more people. And those subscribers, 2 more people each. Ummm..... Does anybody see what's happening? No? Let me draw this out and see if that changes.... See it now? It feels like I'm about to pitch you an MLM! And what do we know about MLMs? They're the most incredible business opportunity on earth, of course! And right now is the time to get in on the ground floor of this amazing opportunity. Because if you can just recruit 2 friends and family members, your business (selling moldy shake powders) will EXPLOSIVELY grow - in perpetuity with no effort on your part. I'm kidding! MLMs are a horrible and predatory business, (which I may properly destroy in a future email...but not now). And much like MLMs don't really grow ad infinitum with 2 people referring 2 people over and over again, this is not how newsletter referral programs work either. In fact, you're almost guaranteed to see the vast majority of your list NEVER refer a single person. They won't even try. "So Rob ... does that mean referral programs just a waste of time?" Not at all. Because while you might not double your list by each person referring one person to your list. What you will see is a small handful of "super refers" emerge. And those people will drive 50, 100, 1,000, even 3000 or more people to your list. These "super refers" are like liquid gold to an email list. Because they not only bring you tons of quality subscribers. But they often bring you subscribers like them - people who engage with your content, buy your products and become evangelists for your brand. So if you're considering launching a referral program, the question is NOT... "Should we do it?" or "What should we offer people as an incentive for sharing?" It's ... "How do you find or create more 'super referrers' for your brand?" Well, if you'd like to know the answer, you're in for a treat. Because this Thursday, December 2nd at 9:00AM PST, I'm going to show you in [a fun, free training with SparkLoop's co-founder, Louis Nicholls](~/AASl5QA~/RgRjiUT_P0R1aHR0cHM6Ly9teS5kZW1pby5jb20vcmVmL3FNV091Z0dYSnhvdGtRaVU_X2t4PUw0VmpMVktOSlQ1UWQzTkEtMkVRSnR6R242VlA5WnVxZE5mZGtfWkJZNjg3SEhZaHlfRU9JOXp5bDkxc01qbEYuVmFuQVdOVwNzcGNCCmGO_7-mYadW8jBSG3RyaXN0cmFtYmFsZHdpbjkxQGdtYWlsLmNvbVgEAAFr0Q~~). And I should know! Because I've actually been a "super referrer" on several email list I love. In fact, I became the #1 referrer in the world for a newsletter with 1.5 million email subscribers ... despite having ZERO audience of my own at the time. They told me they paid other people tens of thousands of dollars to promote their list. And none of those people could compare to the results I brought them as a super fan. That's why you want these kind of people on your list. Money can't buy them. I've also used these same strategies in designing my own referral program -- and it helped double my email list in just under 100 days. If you'd like to learn more about cultivating "super referrers," designing your referral program, the psychology of newsletter sharing, growth levers, and more, [you can sign up for free here](~/AASl5QA~/RgRjiUT_P0R1aHR0cHM6Ly9teS5kZW1pby5jb20vcmVmL3FNV091Z0dYSnhvdGtRaVU_X2t4PUw0VmpMVktOSlQ1UWQzTkEtMkVRSnR6R242VlA5WnVxZE5mZGtfWkJZNjg3SEhZaHlfRU9JOXp5bDkxc01qbEYuVmFuQVdOVwNzcGNCCmGO_7-mYadW8jBSG3RyaXN0cmFtYmFsZHdpbjkxQGdtYWlsLmNvbVgEAAFr0Q~~). I promise to make it fun. See you there! Rob "If I put 2 middle names here instead of one, and then those two middle names have middle names how many times would I have do to that before I wrote a whole book in this section?" Allen PS - Btw, this was supposed to be a training just for SparkLoop's customers. But I told Louis I was sending it out to my list and he didn't seem to mind... ...at the time. So I say get the link to the call while you can ... in case he changes his mind haha. Are we connected on Twitter?
