These innovations have significantly shaped modern society and global transportation!                                                                         Breaking Updates â Hurricane Helene live updates: Storm upgraded to Category 1 as it takes aim at Florida  Helene is strengthening as it moves past Mexico and toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. It became a Category 1 hurricane today before noon and is expected to hit Florida's Big Bend late tomorrow.  Helene is expected to become a massive hurricane, potentially powering up to a destructive Category 3 storm. It could have a wind swath of over 400 miles wide and 32 million people are under flood watches.  There is a storm surge warning for the Florida Keys and almost the entirety of Florida's west coast, signaling life-threatening inundation over the next 36 hours, with surges expected to reach up to 15 feet.  [Read More Here]( Passenger killed when gunman hijacks city bus, leads police on chase through downtown Los Angeles  A tragic incident unfolded in Los Angeles when a gunman hijacked a city bus early Wednesday, resulting in the death of a passenger. The armed man boarded the Metro bus just before 1 a.m. in South Los Angeles, where the driver and two passengers were present. Following the hijacking, police pursued the bus as it moved slowly through the city at gunpoint for nearly an hour. A flashing sign on the front of the bus alerted bystanders to call 911, highlighting the urgency of the situation.  Law enforcement quickly responded by deploying spike strips, which punctured one of the busâs tires, bringing the tense standoff to an end after the vehicle traveled more than seven miles. The bus eventually came to a stop in downtown near the Arts District, where the suspect surrendered to police.
