Pharma companies will be punished if they raise prices faster than the rate of inflation. The start

Pharma companies will be punished if they raise prices faster than the rate of inflation. [Katie Porter for Congress]( The start of the new year doesn't just mean new resolutions—many new laws that were passed in 2022 officially took effect on the first of the year. Katie’s bill that punishes pharmaceutical companies if they raise prices faster than the rate of inflation is officially in action! It was signed into law this summer as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. This is good news for patients. Roughly one in three Americans don’t take medications as prescribed because they can’t afford to. Big Pharma’s greed harms people’s health. It’s also good news for every single taxpayer. When Medicare has to pay Big Pharma higher prices, it’s taxpayers who absorb the cost and get ripped off. There’s more work to be done, and Katie will keep fighting to hold Big Pharma accountable and reduce the cost of healthcare.
