“Truth to Power” isn’t just another set of buzzwords. We’re committed to holding special interests accountable—and we need your help to get it done. [Truth to Power PAC]( Katie Porter here. Our end-of-month fundraising deadline is almost here, and in a moment, I’m going to ask for your help reaching our goal. But before I do, I want to take a moment to tell you how I chose the name of this organization. "Truth to Power" isn’t just another set of buzzwords. As an attorney, as a professor, as a bank watchdog, and as a Congresswoman, I have spent my entire career speaking truth to power. In 2012, then-California Attorney General Kamala Harris appointed me to oversee a multi-billion dollar settlement that forced America’s biggest mortgage providers to take responsibility for bank servicing and foreclosure misconduct. I held the banks accountable—and delivered for Californians. When I was elected to Congress, I made a name for myself as someone who held powerful special interests to account. With my whiteboard in tow, I spent hearing after hearing calling out corporate executives and others who put profits before consumers. And I passed legislation—to lower drug prices, to crack down on polluters, to close health insurance loopholes, and more. Now that my time in Washington is coming to an end, I’m backing a new generation of leaders who will continue speaking truth to power in the halls of Congress. And that’s where this organization comes in. Truth to Power helps anti-corruption champions get the resources they need to win—without taking money from corporate PACs. With the help of grassroots supporters like you—supporters who aren’t afraid to speak truth to power—we’ll elect the next wave of candidates who hold power accountable. But we’re just a few months away from Election Day, and if we want to make sure our candidates win, we have got to hit our fundraising goal before the end of July. [Will you speak truth to power today by chipping in $5 or more before our deadline passes?]( [Donate ›››]( Together, we will hold powerful interests accountable. —Katie Katie Porter started Truth to Power to support Democrats who reject corporate PAC money and are running to protect the environment, restore the nationwide right to an abortion, and create an economy that works for working people.
