Your inbox is probably full of campaign emails right now. I want to take a moment to explain why Truth to Power is different. [Truth to Power PAC]( It's Katie Porter. We’re a few months away from a critical election day. That probably means that your inbox is full of fundraising emails from campaigns, candidates, and committees from across the country. I’m sure some of them are good, ethical emails. But I’m also sure that some of them are… a little sketchy. As a consumer protection attorney, there’s a lot I’ve always disliked about political emails—which is why we’ve never sent you anything about a bogus “3x match” or any fake math about the “5 donors we **NEED** from your zip code right now.” Maybe the worst offenders are the emails that try to scare or intimidate you into donating. Often, they’re sent by groups you’ve never heard of before, with names chock-full of buzzwords like “democracy” or “victory” or “America.” These groups are rarely transparent about who they are or how they spend your money. Sometimes, they’re “scam PACs,” which is a type of political organization that claims to support important causes but actually funnels donations into consultants’ pockets. I hate scam PACs. I want to take a moment to explain why Truth to Power isn't like that. We’re not an amorphous void, where your money disappears untraceably and somehow saves democracy. Truth to Power is a specific organization, with a specific goal. We endorse candidates for Congress who will champion the fight against corporate money in politics once elected. We use your contributions to support their campaigns, fighting back against interference from dark money groups. Too often, candidates who refuse to accept money from corporate interests lose their races because they cannot close the fundraising gap with their corporate-backed opponents. Truth to Power exists to stop that from happening. In just over five months, my time in Congress will come to an end. But, our movement is far from over—with your help, we will elect leaders who will build on my work, carrying on the fight against special interests and corporate influence in the halls of power. Election day is getting closer, and our fight is ramping up. [So, if you can, please consider making a contribution to Truth to Power today.]( [Donate ›››]( Thanks for reading, and thanks for supporting our work. I am honored to have you in my corner. —Katie Katie Porter started Truth to Power to support Democrats who reject corporate PAC money and are running to protect the environment, restore the nationwide right to an abortion, and create an economy that works for working people.
