To ban or not to ban? [For the best experience, read in browser.]( March 13, 2024 Make sure you’ve got your favorite videos saved, because TikTok could go away. We’ve got the latest on the efforts to ban the app — and the video platform's surprising supporter. Then, we’re sharing [a no-holds-barred health update from Christina Applegate]( and [a timeline of Kate Middleton’s whereabouts](. Later on, we’ve got the scoop on [the celebrity-approved bangs trend]( you might’ve spotted at the Oscars and [how to nail a spring capsule wardrobe](. Away we go…   In the News [Hand holding phone with TikTok app]( Getty Images TikTok's Moment of Truth Can Congress really ban TikTok? The House is expected to weigh in on that very question this morning. Here’s the download: What are lawmakers voting on? The House is prepared to vote on a bipartisan bill that would require any company controlled by a foreign adversary to sell the app within 180 days or be removed from U.S. app stores. While other social media platforms could be singled out, it specifically targets TikTok, which is owned by Beijing-based company ByteDance. What’s behind this push? Former President Trump led the initial charge to ban the app in 2020, but changed his tune this week. Nonetheless, Republicans and Democrats warn that TikTok poses a grave threat to national security because China's government could gain access to its data and utilize it to spy on Americans. (ByteDance has repeatedly refuted this idea.) What’s next? If the bill makes it through both chambers, it has a pretty good chance of becoming law. President Biden has thrown his support behind the legislation, even as his campaign uses the app to reach voters.   More Stories It's official: Both President Biden and Donald Trump won their presidential primaries in Georgia, meaning a 2024 rematch for the White House is on. Trump posted a video after clinching the Republican nomination, telling viewers: "We have to get back to work because we have the worst president in the history of the country." This comes as a federal judge approves Trump's $91 million bond in the E. Jean Carroll case — the verdict of which he's now appealing. More politics: Special counsel Robert Hur affirmed Biden's memory lapses during his testimony on the president's mishandling of classified documents yesterday — but not the more serious cognitive decline Republicans describe. Meanwhile, hardline GOP Rep. Ken Buck announced he's leaving Congress at the end of next week, saying “This place has just devolved into this bickering and nonsense." Meanwhile, a former Boeing employee who raised major concerns about the company has been found dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound in Charleston, South Carolina. Keeping it real: There's nothing more refreshing than a celeb telling it like it is — even when the truth is a bit of a downer. Asked during a radio interview whether she had to rethink her approach to work after having kids, singer Lily Allen replied jokingly: "My children ruined my career. I mean I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop stardom, totally ruined it.”   Must-Reads [Kate Middleton wearing black hat and her hair in a low knot]( On the Lookout Having trouble keeping track of all the sightings of and statements about Kate Middleton?
