In the News [palestinian militants on a truck]( Palestinian militants of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades move towards the Erez crossing between Israel and the northern Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023. (Getty Images) Grave Miscalculation Israeli officials and global experts alike have characterized the Oct. 7 attack as a massive intelligence failure. Now, a bombshell report by The New York Times suggests it may have been even more catastrophic than previously thought. The Times reveals that Israeli intelligence had direct access to Hamasâ attack plans â contained inside a 40-page document the Israelis labeled âJericho Wallâ â for more than a year before it took place. Even more devastating, Hamas reportedly followed the blueprint âwith shocking precisionâ on Oct. 7. So [why didnât Israel act on this information](? Alarming stunt: A YouTuber who ejected himself from a plane mid-air and let the aircraft crash to the ground for views has been jailed for six months. At the time, he implied it was an accident, but he later admitted in a plea agreement that the stunt was part of a sponsorship deal. The weight loss drug race: Drug companies are falling over each other to buy up smaller businesses that are developing potential weight loss products. Yesterday, Swiss drugmaker Roche snapped up the California-based biotech Carmot Therapeutics for $2.7 billion, signaling its entry to a market that's expected to be worth at least $100 billion by 2030 â and far more still if Medicaid begins to cover weight loss drugs. In Their Own Words More than 100 hostages that were held hostage in the Gaza Strip were released as part of the weeklong ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
