Two more Israeli hostages released. [For the best experience, read in browser.]( October 24, 2023 We begin today with the latest on the Israel-Hamas war, plus some much-needed guidance about [how to find mental health support and help those suffering](. We're also unveiling [the new season of my podcast]( (and a brand-new format) unpacking [shocking celebrity relationship news](, and sharing a trauma expert's take on [why the silent treatment never works](. In the News [From right: Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, who was released from Hamas captivity; her husband, Oded, 83, is still being held hostage.]( From right: Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, who was released from Hamas captivity. Her husband Oded, 83, is still being held hostage. (Courtesy of the Lifshitz family) Reaching for Relief Hamas has released two more Israeli hostages as Israel prepares to invade Gaza from the "air, ground, and sea." Hereâs what we know. Home at last: Two hostages, 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz and 79-year-old Nurit Cooper, were released Monday having been held in Gaza since Hamas abducted them from Kibbutz Nir Oz on Oct. 7. Both womenâs husbands are still captive. Daniel Lifshitz, Yochevedâs grandson, told reporters: âWe hope this is just the start of the release of all the hostages.â Trickling in: On Monday, an additional 20 trucks carrying food, water, medicine, and medical supplies entered Gaza via Egyptâs Rafah Crossing. About 20 trucks per day have made it into the enclave since Saturday, but advocates warn it is not enough â the Palestinian Red Crescent Society called it âa drop in the ocean.â Whatâs more, the deliveries havenât included fuel, which is running dangerously low. A doctor at Gaza's largest hospital told CNN that it will become a "mass grave" if fuel runs out. If you're feeling helpless over all of this news, we've rounded up a few [humanitarian groups on the ground you can donate to](, plus ways to find mental health support to help you make sense of it all. The aircraft's captain and first officer intervened to prevent engine failure, and the flight â which was en route to San Francisco â was diverted to Portland, Oregon. The suspect, 44-year-old Joseph D. Emerson, has been taken into custody. Panera suit: A 21-year-old student has died after drinking Panera Breadâs Charged Lemonade â and her parents have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the chain. They're alleging that Sarah Katz was misled by Panera, which failed to properly alert consumers to the drink's high caffeine content. Katz closely monitored her caffeine intake due to a condition that causes potentially fatal irregular heartbeats. Her roommate told NBC News that she "never would have touched [the drink] with a 10-foot pole,â had she known how much caffeine was in it. "Honest mistake": Washington state senator Jeff Wilson was arrested at Hong Kong International Airport on Saturday and charged with possession of a firearm without a license. The Republican said he hadn't realized the gun was in his briefcase until he was mid-flight, and "immediately" alerted customs officials upon landing. The offense carries a potential 14-year sentence and $12,000-plus fine, but Wilson says he expects the situation "to be resolved shortly.â The Rangers advance: The Texas Rangers dominated the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series last night, clinching the American League pennant. The Rangers' 11-4 win secures their third trip to the World Series in franchise history â and their first since 2011. Rangers right fielder Adolis GarcÃa blasted two home runs plus 5 RBI, leaving his claim to 2023 ALCS MVP in no doubt. Tune In!
