(Getty Images) The Search for the Truth The suspect in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has been identified. [Here’s what we know]( about the 20-year-old gunman, the other victims at the rally, and more: Who is Thomas Matthew Crooks? The suspect is from Bethel Park, Penn., a suburb south of Pittsburgh. Crooks, who has no criminal record, is a registered Republican, although he gave a small donation in 2021 to a progressive political action committee. The FBI has not released a motive. Who are the victims? Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former firefighter, was killed in the shooting. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said he attended the rally with his wife and two daughters and dove over them to protect them from the gunfire. He called Comperatore a “hero.” Two other men were also wounded and are in stable condition. What has Trump said? He posted on social media that a bullet “pierced the upper right part of [his] ear,” but he’s otherwise fine. Trump also vowed to remain “defiant in the face of wickedness” and said he'd be at the Republican National Convention today.
