Let's get going.   In the News [Family members hold up posters of their dead loved ones' faces]( Getty Images "The Deadliest Corporate Crime" The families of those who died in two Boeing 737 MAX crashes have written to the Justice Department to demand the company face a criminal trial. Here's the deal. In a 32-page letter, the families accused Boeing of the “deadliest corporate crime in U.S. history,” and asked that it face the maximum criminal penalty of a $24 billion fine. They also demanded “criminal prosecutions of the responsible corporate officials.” The letter follows the DOJ's note to Boeing in May saying that the company had violated the 2021 agreement that waived charges for crashes in 2018 and 2019 that killed 346 people. The note was in response to an incident in January when a door plug blew off an Alaska Airlines plane mid-flight. The DOJ gave Boeing until last week to respond, and said it will inform the court of its intentions by July 7. [Accusations against Boeing have been mounting for months](. Earlier this week, Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun appeared before Congress after yet another whistleblower raised concerns about safety and quality control at the company. Calhoun stressed that though Boeing's culture is "far from perfect," it is improving.
