Let’s begin…   In the News [President Trump in court]( Getty Images 40 Is the New 50 The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is advising millions more women to start getting routine mammograms. Here’s a look at the new recommendation — and [why some advocates aren’t happy.]( The expert panel recommends that women begin getting mammograms every other year once they reach 40, instead of 50 as previously advised. A growing number of women in their 40s are being diagnosed with the disease. According to the National Cancer Institute, rates among this demographic have risen by 2% every year between 2015 and 2019. The guidance has been criticized by prominent women’s health advocates because it doesn’t endorse additional screening methods for women with dense breasts. It’s harder to find cancers in this type of breast tissue, and some studies show that extra imaging can be a valuable, and sometimes life-saving measure. A Columbia journalism student [told us how the situation erupted.]( Meanwhile, police arrived on the UCLA campus early this morning amid a violent clash between Pro-Palestinian protesters and Israel supporters. The judge in Donald Trump's hush money trial handed Trump $9,000 in fines for nine violations of his gag order, adding that further violations could lead to his imprisonment. Jurors meanwhile heard from the attorney who negotiated the hush money payments. The Justice Department is rescheduling marijuana as a lower-risk drug in recognition of its medical benefits and potential for research. It'll be reclassified from Schedule I to Schedule III, sharing a category with drugs like ketamine and Tylenol with codeine. Makeup brand Youthforia is facing backlash after creating a dark foundation that Black influencers have compared to face paint. The brand released the new foundation after Black creators pointed out the lack of inclusive shades in its range.   In Focus Before 2019 Miss USA winner Cheslie Kryst died by suicide in January 2022, she asked her mother, April Simpkins, to publish the manuscript she'd written chronicling her life and journey to the crown.
