Just last year, Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy warned that children and teens who spend more than three hours a day on platforms like Facebook and TikTok face double the risk of depression and anxiety symptoms. The nonprofit Mothers Against Media Addiction is hoping to combat this worrisome trend via grassroots efforts on both state and local levels. “Our kids are glued to their screens. Screen time is overtaking face-to-face human interaction and real-life experiences and it’s got to stop,” founder Julie Scelfo tells us.
