I am praying for the victims’ families and wishing those injured a speedy recovery. Too many communities have suffered like ours is right now. This country has a serious problem with gun violence and we need to have the courage and conviction to stop it. The House has already passed two bills to save lives and expand background checks across our country. We need the Senate to vote on H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, which would require unlicensed and private sellers to conduct background checks on gun sales, and H.R. 1446, the Enhanced Background Checks Act, to close the “Charleston loophole," which permits gun sales to proceed if a background check isn’t completed within three business days. This gap in federal law allowed a white supremacist to obtain a weapon and kill nine Black people in a church in South Carolina in 2015. We need action, not just for Long Island, but for the hundreds of other communities that have been the site of a mass shooting so far in 2021. In honor of those lost in every corner of our country, I won’t give up this fight. You can count on that. – Kathleen --------------------------------------------------------------- [Facebook]( [Twitter]( Email is an important way for us to keep supporters like you informed about critical issues and to build a winning grassroots campaign.
