The American people deserve to know that we are taking all necessary steps to protect our democracy. The Trump administration and Attorney General Bill Barr dropped all charges against Trump’s former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, despite the fact that Flynn pled guilty to those charges. Twice. Time and again, we’ve watched Attorney General Barr do President Trump’s bidding -- putting politics above the rule of law. And now, he’s weaponizing the Justice Department to help free one of Trump’s cronies. As a former District Attorney and federal prosecutor, I’ve dedicated my entire career to upholding the rule of law in our country. And I won’t stand idly by while Bill Barr undermines it. That’s why I’ve repeatedly called on Barr to resign. Because he’s clearly more interested in being Trump’s personal lawyer than he is in being our nation’s top law enforcement official. I know that these are difficult times in our country. Every day, Americans are making unimaginable sacrifices in order to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe. But while the Coronavirus pandemic may have upended our daily lives, we cannot allow Trump and his cronies to use it as cover to derail our democracy.
