An update from Justin! [View this email in your browser]( February 2024 Life Stuff Howdy pickers, Felt like a summer morning when I was out walking the dog this morning, with clear skies and a very strange 13c; it’s more commonly snowing this time of year! Good thing that Climate Change is just a hoax and nothing to worry about! [sarc.] But I shouldn’t complain, rather walk the dog in blue skies than pouring rain! Things are typically crazy busy in Justin land. A personal project has been keeping me extra busy, but I found that even though I have less time to ‘work’ I get more or less the same amount done! I guess I focus better when opportunity arises. Really enjoyed the [Club]( session last week with the incredible Aussie guitarist [Joe Robinson](. Got me working on my Freight Train again, been years since I'd looked at that, and was surprised how much I’d forgotten. The [Blues]( and the [Theory]( Clubs have been a lot of fun, too—very interesting to run them. Such a fun addition to our adventures! If you've never joined a Club and the time zone works for you, come and [join us in an upcoming session](. They're a great add-on to your guitar routine! I’m still working hard on the[Blues Immersion]( course. It really is a mega project and I’m learning much more about Blues, and about myself, than I expected. It looks like we’re aiming for a June release window now, and enrollment will be only for a week and with limited places. So make sure you've [joined the waiting list]( to be the first to know. I’ve just finished all the scripting for the module on the 50’s artists, Chicago Blues and Pattern 2 vocabulary, but it’s the next one I’m looking forward to the most! The 60’s, Memphis Blues and my all time favorite players—the three Kings! I've been working a bit on new songs too, but was hoping to get myself ahead of schedule a bit more than I have. Had a sore throat for a few days too which meant singing was bad at best ;) Still really enjoying my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey and feeling pretty fit generally. Hadn’t been out running for quite some time and went out for a 10k run a couple of days ago, and didn’t feel too bad during or after. Was taking it easy (just under an hour) but even managed the gnarly hills without stopping! I'll try to start doing equal amount of guitar practice as I am BJJ training, which will be really interesting, as I train on average 6-7 hours a week. I play guitar a lot for work but I really want to make time for personal guitar development as well. I do let it slide, and I shouldn’t. Super happy to see my all time guitar hero [Tommy Emmanuel]( pick up a Grammy award :) I went to see him in January in London and it was the best of his shows I’ve seen, and I’ve seen him live a lot over the last 40 years - he was one of the first guitar shows I ever saw and was a massive inspiration! The wonderful [Molly Tuttle]( picked up a Grammy too! She was supporting Tommy for the show in London, and is an phenomenal guitarist and great singer and songwriter. Have you seen Mike Dawes’ incredible new arrangement of the Foo Fighters classic [Everlong]( The guy is a genius, and love the way he's blending effects over the top of the pure acoustic sound. Ol' spider fingers strikes again! Oh and random share - my daughter really wanted to get into roller skating, and so rather than sitting and staring at my phone for an hour each week while she went around, I decided to get into it too. So much fun. I was big into skateboarding as a teenager and have skated inline before, but this time I’m on old school ‘quad’ skates and it’s a real laugh! OK, I have a ton of things on today, gotta go get ear impressions for some new In Ear Monitors (fancy musician ear buds), then scout a potential [workshop]( venue, then more work on video scripts, some video editing and… guitar practice! Hope you are finding plenty of quality time with your guitar and have a lot of fun in the month ahead!
