New Intermediate lessons, website improvements, and much more cool stuff going on! June 2021 News Howdy guitar friend, Hope this newsletter finds you safe and well and finding plenty of time to enjoy playing the guitar. As usual, it's been very busy around here, the renovation project is coming to a close, and I'm hoping to move into my new studio in July. Super exciting! But geez it's been eating my time, so many decisions to make and things to sort out. Mega thank you to our developers Mike and Ben (and designers Cass and Babs), who just released the redesign of our [Songs]( pages! Now you'll easily find out which lessons are the newest, which are in the app, have tabs, etc. It's really user-friendly - I think it looks awesome, and I hope y'all dig it as well. The new lessons for [Grade 4]( are almost all done. Just a few Rhythm Maestro lessons to film! I just released the first lesson of the E Shape Major module - but they're all ready to go. Oh, I feel this first lesson is actually [the most complete barre chords guide]( I could ever make! More on that below. I've also been working on a new Songwriting and Production course, some extracurricular content, and exciting projects that will be released this second semester. And believe it or not - I'm already planing content for next year. :) But first things way first... let's check out what's on this month's menu! June Highlights - The Ultimate Guide To Easy Barre Chords - Song Lessons... and 1M subscribers! - New Major Scale Maestro lessons - JustinGuitar StarStudents - Life Stuff... Struggling With Barre Chords? Not Anymore! I literally just released [the best barre chord lesson]( you'll ever find. This really is [Your Ultimate Guide To Barre Chords]( and it teaches step-by-step how to get clear and good-sounding barre chords. No matter if you're following along with my Intermediate Foundation lessons, if you've been struggling with the F Chord, or if you want to learn how to move the barre on the guitar fretboard, this guide will sort it out. I revealed - in great detail - all the mechanic details that will make your barre chords sound good. You'll learn: - The best techniques for beginners to nail barre chords - How use the correct mechanics to get clear chords with less effort! - How to move E Shape Major grips around the fretboard - The right placement for your fingers, hand and arm! - Common mistakes and how to fix them - And much, much more! By the end of this master video, you'll know everything you need to play barre chords - and shift them around - with confidence. :) And this is only the first lesson of the all-new [E Shape Barre Chords]( module. 🤘 I usually don't ask that - but if you do dig this lesson, share its link and social post in your network! I feel this content can help so many guitar players out there, so let's help that out! It's a win-win. ❤️ Video comments, likes, and shares - they're all welcome! I count on you. :) [Easy & Clear BARRE CHORDS: Learn NOW!]( The [JustinGuitar Songs]( channel on YouTube is reaching a MILLION subscribers soon! :) How exciting, eh. I really dig teaching songs, and I love the process of researching the best ones to put your guitar skills into practice. :) Anyway - I think that's a great occasion to introduce the first public JustinGuitar Show! - a live hang out on YouTube so that we can have a good time together! I'm already in contact with some possible guests and deciding on some songs to jam live. But I was also thinking... the Song channel is not really about me, it's about you. So I'm also getting REAL COOL PREZZIES to giveaway during the live event. 💸🎸 I'll announce the live details in the next few days! Don't want to miss that out? Make sure you subscribed to my [song channel]( and turn on the notifications so you'll know when I go live! 🔔You can also keep an eye on my [Instagram]( - we'll pop the date over there as well! Now let's see which new song lessons are on this month's menu. :) [All I Wanna Do by Sheryl Crow]( is one of those classics that makes everyone sing out loud. :) It's a relatively easy song to play on guitar, and you'll learn a nice little cheat so you can play the whole song using open chords only. If you're up for some fancy stuff, we'll also explore the slide guitar going on the other details you hear on the original record. The melody on this song is pretty unique and it has an incredible production. :) [we fell in love in october by girl in red]( is relatively easy to play. You only need two chords - but that brings some fun challenges we'll also explore! If you have a [looper pedal]( this is a great song to explore. It uses the G Major Scale - cool stuff to get into [improvising](. ;) [Willow by Taylor Swift]( has a fantastic blending of different guitar layers! We'll explore an easy version for beginners, and I'll show you a nice cheat, so you don't have to use any barre chords! :) Then, we'll build it up for something more complex and explore the riff that happens in its verse. If you're a more advanced guitar player or are feeling adventurous, you'll dig that. New Major Scale Maestro Lessons! I keep working a lot on the Intermediate Foundation remake - and so far, things are moving out great! I just released the remaining lessons for the Major Scale Maestro module. They wrap up the scales study in Grade 4! After you've learned [Pattern 3 of Major Scales]( - one of my faves! - you have all the base knowledge to start improvising all over the guitar neck. That's exactly what the latest lesson is about. I call it [Fretboard Framework](. The idea is to help you build your own system to help you play scales in the entire fretboard. We'll break all the shapes we've learned so far into single octave chunks i- such an awesome way of demystifying the fretboard! If you're following along with the course, you'll find your practice routine for Grade 4 - Major Scales Maestro [here](. Make sure you don't miss out on that. Good luck and have fun. :) [New Lesson: Fretboard Framework]( Last month, I asked my women students to reach out to us, introducing themselves and telling a little bit about their background. Only 12% of my audience is female, and I do find that intriguing. :) I learned so much from you all and actually got really inspired by so many awesome people sharing awesome music. I think that is so empowering and makes the world a better place. The thing is - I've got so many cool videos and testimonials that it made me create the JustinGuitar StarStudent section so that I can celebrate you! For now, I'm sharing the videos on my social channels, but as soon as possible, we'll get them on the website as well! Maybe so live shows featuring students? I don't know yet - but it'll be cool. You know, I'm grateful for all the heartful messages I get every day about my guitar lessons. But if you play guitar and have fun with it, the credit is yours! You're the one who puts in all the effort that takes to learn how to play. You're the JustinGuitar star! ;) Super thank you and congratulations to Cathe Fein Olson, Meryn Evry, Emma Garvie, Annie Lennox, Jadzia Williams, Amelie Simpson, Nancy Dellosso, Jacque Cheely, and Lobke Stel for the awesome vids. Check them out [here]( [here]( [here]( and [here](. Meanwhile, students actively share questions, videos, recordings, and feedback with each other on [The JustinGuitar Community](. It's a safe environment to send your first performances into the world, looking for feedback or showing your progress. You can share your questions, successes, doubts, or ambitions with a supportive and varied community. [Register here](. Richard (Close2u) and Lieven (Lievendv) are always at your disposal if you need help using the forum. Stay Tuned - We'll Call Out For More Videos Very Soon! :) Other Life Stuff... Where did this rain come from? It's been glorious here in the UK for the last week and sunshine and warm weather was forecast for ages... but well. Yeah... Still, I'm super busy working today - I just finished editing a new song lesson too - for John Mayer's new song Last Train Home - only released yesterday. Feeling pretty current :) haha. It's uploading right now so check my songs channel shortly and you should find it (or see my socials!). Got a load of other things vying for my attention. Mostly - I've been dreaming about getting into the new studio and how I'm going to fit it out, what furniture I need, and what 'sets' I'm going to get together in there. I'm also really feeling a creative urge and want to get recording more - so I'm hoping to combine that energy with lessons on songwriting and production too. Get it all together while the vibe is strong. I did escape for a long weekend to the seaside town of Brixham and ate some wonderful seafood - so nice to get away. Really looking forward to getting out and doing some workshops again and teaching people face to face... and just travelling - I miss it so much. Oh, and I got my Tassie devil tattoo finished off (the artist was the amazing Georgina Liliane!). Hope you have a lot of fun with your guitar until we meet again! :) J. 🎧 What I'm listening to... [Wyldest]( - A friend recommended the new Wydest album to me, and I really dig it. I followed [Zoe on Instagram]( and she messaged me that she used to learn stuff from my lessons! Super cool to have helped even a little in the journey of artists I really dig. Such a strange and beautiful world we live in. :) She's a talented writer and did all the playing, production, and mixing herself - and it's really, really good. It's modern but organic - super cool guitar sounds, and she has a lovely smokey voice. Tre cool. [Let It Bleed by Rolling Stones]( - I was in a Stones tribute band for a few years, and they were one of the bands I was obsessed with as a teenager. Not sure what triggered it, but I've listened to this album on repeat in the car the last week… I love so many things about it. And only got a lesson on one song from it - I need to rectify that :) 📚 What I'm reading... [One Blade Of Grass]( - I almost finished this book about the journey to Zen… it's a fascinating read that explores the 'road of the heart,' meditation, and Zen. I've been exploring Koan meditation lately, and it's all super interesting. I need to explore it more… [A Classical Education by Caroline Taggart]( - I didn't get a great education at school, so I found this book a great filler for many stuff I felt I should have known. I re-read it every few years and now doing the audiobook of it. Fascinating, and I seem to get new takeaways with each read. 📺 What I'm watching... [How not to take things personally?]( - This TEDx Talk by Frederik Imbo gives some great food for thought. He shares his strategy on how to handle your ego. It's all about that, right? It's our ego that leads us to think that others always take us into consideration. :) Great talk - definitely worth 18 minutes of your time! [Love Death Robots]( - Along with Black Mirror, this is some of my favorite deep thinking cinema. I love it, and it's always thought-provoking and interesting and takes my head to interesting places. [Motherland]( - On a whole other track, this series is hilarious, and I know people like this. It reminds me of where we lived in London and the kind of social games people play… judgments, prejudices, lies, and social climbers. So funny, but so so real. [The Dig]( - Historical drama at the start of WW2 about a wealthy landowner who hires an archeologist to excavate some mounds on her land. Based on a novel that was based on real events… so it's got some truth in it… but really, it's just an interesting story, well shot and well acted :) Copyright © 2021 Justin Guitar Ltd, All rights reserved.
