Here's an update on Life Stuff from Justin to you! [View this email in your browser]( Life Stuff Back to Work! Howdy pickers! Hope this newsletter finds you safe and well and having tons of fun with your guitar! I’m just getting back into work mode after five weeks off. I took a month off for paternity leave, and I just got back from a week-long ski holiday with the family. My son is super chilled and hardly ever cries; he just eats, poos, and sleeps. But in the last few days, he’s become more engaged and aware of trying to communicate. It's almost time to start the baby sign language! I was dreading the drive to the French Alps with a newborn, but M was amazing, and the whole journey was pretty much without drama! We found a lay-flat cot car seat (which didn’t exist when my daughter was born), making it much more comfortable for him. Skiing was great fun, we went to Tignes, and the skiing was great, though the town isn’t as funky as Val D’Isere. I did ski lessons every day with a super instructor called Justine! I’m only at the “ESF 2A” level, but I made some progress and was getting more comfortable on the reds by the end of the week. I struggle to relax and lean forward as the slopes get steeper. It's funny how relaxing is hard when you can’t do something… It’s a significant problem for many beginner guitarists, but it seems to be a key to learning pretty much anything! The weather was mixed, first few days, we were skiing in snow storms with very low visibility, but the sun came out, and the last part of the week was very much ‘spring snow’, icy on the top of the hill and slushy on the bottom, but at least the sun was shining - makes such a difference! But now I’m back in my studio and looking at a crazy list of things I want done in the next month. I think I’ll start with some song lessons to get my fingers and brain warmed up again, and then I have some really fun Solo Blues lessons to film for a new free series. Then, I’ll head back to working on the mega [Blues Immersion program]( I’ve finished many ‘scripts’ so now I need to get going with the filming and editing! I just realized that I didn’t get a single picture of myself on the mountain skiing, which is crazy because the scenery was incredible. Instead, I popped a picture above of an incredible recent BJJ workshop I went to. It was with a leglock specialist, Lloyd Cooper, and the seminar was on one of my favorite submissions, the straight foot lock. I had my first day back on the mats yesterday after the break for skiing, and I’d really missed it, the Jay Butler BJJ club feels like a family! I’ve not touched a guitar much in the last 10 days—except for one night last week when one came out in a restaurant, and I had a little bash through Wonderwall with some friends and the whole place was singing along :) haha! Not much more news to share today, and I really need to get playing! I hope you have a fantastic month, and maybe see you at my [free Blues Club]( next week. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
