As loping funk underpins the power beneath, retro synths edge in as the track progresses, turning it into a real head nodder. Fouk pops up on the remix, ramping up the percussion and pairing it with some floating pads, the retro feel is amped up and a tinkling Rhodes piano turns this one into a proper journey of relaxation. Back to Mangabey and 'Broken Dub', a steppier interpretation of house music that injects some broken funk as well as dub - darker, moodier and a nice switch up. Glenn Astro brings up the rear on the remix and, with his gentle, warping pads, creates a rich tapestry of lowkey ambience from the start. An atmospheric take on the original that drops heaviness for lightness. Both are regulars in the underground and wider reaching London scenes, with Warren being a co-founder of Abouttoblow and a previous studio producer at Worldwide FM, while Joe came through DJing and running nights in the eclectic world of Bristol nightlife before moving to London. The Premise EP features the deep and sulty late night groove of the title track - a perfect match for the Amsterdam based imprint, while "Bad Habit" goes for an energetic disco- acid vibe. Fans of lo-fi dance music will flock to this release thanks to the buzzing bass, discordant tones and sheet metal riffs of tracks like "March Cherskogo" and "Slow Durk". First up is Romanian wunderkind Luca M (Terminal M/Suara) - the Get Funky Music boss collaborating with good buddy JUST2 on a bunch of deep and trippy grooves. From the gritty and sleazy backroom dub of "Acid Ghetto" with its siganture 303 wobble, to the reduced minimal hypnotism of "Bechamel" which is done in idiosyncratic Romanian style if we've ever heard it. On the whole, it is, with highlights coming thick and fast throughout, from the glistening Hawaiian guitars and gentle dub disco shuffle of Maurice Aymard's "Different Channels" and the lilting trumpets and rubbery dub bass of Jeep's luscious "Goldman Sachs Building", to the sparse tropical synth-pop of Ponzu Island's "Ponzu Logic" and the exceptionally dreamy Balearic nu-disco/slow house fusion of Pablo Bolivar and Sensual Physics' "Base". His latest missive for the German imprint is, as expected, pretty darn strong. Highlights include the alien chords, organic-sounding beats and woozy atmosphere of ultra-deep chugger "Hamburg 3011", the jazzy, early morning dancefloor sleepiness of loose-limbed broken beat number "Modern Soul Classics" and the horizontal drowsiness of blissful closing cut "Merlot 1988". The title track 'Bellyboy' alongside the vocal talents of Buchanan is a demonstration in electronic excellence, bubbling up suspense and darkness in perfect harmony. But, on this occasion the obvious is not the case and the result is an extraordinarily good single. 'Split in 2' features Laville on the vocals and is the smoother of the two yet still crams in some Insideinfo-esque dirtiness beneath the vocal-led veneer. 'Beneath', on the other hand, is the tearout of the two and has one of the most rambunctious basslines you'll hear all year - picture Serum crossed with Enei crossed with LSB. It is now back over to ascendant Ukranian producer Yan Cook, returning to follow up his last appearance in 2017 with this blistering EP. Dead Satellite features four fierce and functional cuts for serious DJ use: from the strobed-out tunnel vision of "Second Sun", the hypnotic tool that is the title track or the adrenalised "Skafandr'' that lunges straight for the jugular with its peak-time energy.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Mitekiss]( [Crate Six Seven]( [Hospital]( [Mitekiss' debut album has been long-awaited since the announcement that he signed onto the legendary Hospital Records. Well, it was worth the wait. Crate Six Seven is unique, deep and incredibly well-balanced piece of music that'll have you enraptured from start to finish. The title track is particularly good, an impossibly deep and delicate track that leads into the album in an ideal fashion. 'Farmost' featuring the vocals of Emer Dineen, an outstanding vocalist who was on Logistics' album earlier this year, carries on the trend of delicate deepness with a stuttering, jungle twist. 'Lenz' is the darkest of the bunch, a minimal journey that keeps you guessing with its twists and turns, every bar bringing something new to the table. Naturally, there's an altogether different feel to this EP on Lobster Theremin (his second for Jimmy Asquith's lauded label). It's similarly melodious and analogue-rich, of course, with the cultured retro-futurist house warmth of 'This Is 4U" and bleeping deep house/electro fusion cut "McKenna's Mind" setting the tone perfectly. Elsewhere, he joins the dots between Chicago jack-tracks, organ-heavy '90s U.S garage and New Jersey deep house on "Lazer Beam", before rounding things off with a looped vocal DJ tool ("Talking Headz").]( [Deep House -
