The title track's loping, monotonous dubstep notes wrap themselves around your ears, greyish tones stirking deep with tinky stabs bringing the highs and balancing out the range. Martians is more pointed, stabbing drums bring out the best of the bassline, a low-end that carries a sense of anger an injustice as it barrels forward. Reptoid is a different tip; weirder and harder to like but even more rewarding, with distorted highs dominating like a much cooler version of Mario Kart, one that's garish and simply doesn't care. Computer Takeover brings up the rear with lunging, aggressive bass stabs set against a properly murky percussive echo. Moody, yet manages to bring some funk to the table. Keje is next and it's more of a 2-step vibe, relaxing melodies juxtapose with penetrating lows to create melancholia that makes you want to move, an almost nostalgic track that has a cinematic edge. Dimez takes a more downtempo turn, a floaty piano sample nurtures distinctly old-school vibe, rusty drums and broken atmospherics nicely diversifying the EP. Here we see him touch down on Foundation Audio for another monster of a release, kicking off with the dungeon inspired flavours and earth shuddering subs of the title track 'Kingdom Dub'. We kick off this four track bonanza with the title track 'Spectrum', a phenomenal piece of dubstep inspired sound design, driven by blazing subs and masterful mix work. This is then followed by the similar stylings of 'Mind Control'. Next up we splash into the pool of weighty subs and precisely processed percussive rolls that is 'On My Skin', descending into delightful synth growls and sharp drum work. Finally we finish up this masterful body of work with 'Hailstone', an incredible arrangement of haunted atmospherics and powerful beat stops, reminiscent of early DJ Madd.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Berrik]( [Modify]( EXCLUSIVE [Surfase]( [BERRIK's Modify EP does deep dubstep how it should be done. Take the title track, for example. A tense, brooding introduction slowly pushes and evolves into something deserving of that suspense, an arrangement which just screams deepness, an arrangement where every subtle detail contributes towards a tentative, yet aggressive atmosphere. 'Terrain' continues the trend, with echoes of murderous intent gradually building into percussive knocks that bring out the depth endemic to the low-end. The hip-hop feel to the drums in 'Frieght' inject some movement into the release but don't sacrifice on deepness, as a bassline so low you its barely audible but certainly tangible settles into a rut of good monotony. Let's first take a look at 'Killing Machine (feat Nebr The Tiger)', which is a seriously intense journey through organized chaos as waves of unpredictable distortion form the underbelly over which Nebr runs wild with crazy lyrisicism. To follow, the scattered rhythms and sweeping soundscapes of 'Impel Tiltskin' occur before we hit the post-dubstep arrangements of 'Santoryu'. The first thing you notice on 'Let Me Tell Yah' is the dub and reggae influence, those classic bouncy dub notes sound fantastic but don't stop darker dubstep elements from creeping in. 'Steppin Down' ups the tempo slightly but opts for more mellow soundscapes, whereas 'Bongo Rocker' takes you straight to the Tangled Roots at Boomtown with a gorgeous mix of Jamaican and British dance influences. 'My Head Is A Space Echo' stays on the same tip but combines it with a more celestial, spacey feel, before 'Stingray Dub' shuts down the release, a chilled out number, a real eye-closer but one which still hits your chest how it should. We kick off proceedings with the delicious sub Movement's and airy textures of 'Slumtown', before dashing into the skippy drum creations and dubwise bass leads of 'Ninjutsu'. Next up we have the title track 'Interterrestrial', a wavy half time roller, designed in classic Monsters shape and sound. Following this we land onto the bitcrushed oscillations of 'Rapid Eye Movement', before rounding off the project with some expertly crafted flavour on the angry sub reeses of 'Washed Brain'.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( Various [Splinters]( [AMAR]( [Let's just list the amount of stone cold bass OGs on this collection: Krust, dBridge, Om Unit, Danny Scrilla, V.I.V.E.K, Von D, Moresounds, AU, Oris Jay & Chris Innersound and whole load more of soundsystem culture's most innovative craftsman working at the deepest levels of the low end coalface all feature on this immense and forward thinking document. Including the curator Amit himself. Every track is a highlight, each one and abyssal, immersive experience but essential highlights include the toxic bass bounces of Moresounds' "They Can't Handle It", the 23rd century UKG of Oris and Chris's "They Can't Handle It" and Krust's big screen masterpiece "Escape From Finland". Amit deserves a holiday. Or a massive trophy. Or both.
