It’s time to implement bold policies that will transform the livelihoods of marginalized communities all over New York state. [Jumaane for Governor of New York](#) {NAME}, New Yorkers across the state have been shocked by the out-of-control utility bills over the past few months. It was already hard enough to make ends meet–for too many, these bills have been the last straw. We need a plan that tackles spiking energy costs while setting our state on a path to a green energy future. Climate change is one of the greatest crises facing humanity today. Not only is our overreliance on fossil fuels causing rising temperatures and unhealthy air, it’s also causing heating, electricity, and gas prices to surge for communities across New York State -- disproportionately communities of color and communities subjected to long-standing environmental injustices. [It's time now for bold, progressive leaders who will support transformative policies and meet the affordability and climate crises with the urgency and scale they demand. Donate $5 to help fund our people-powered campaign!]( Today, Earth Day, we announced our plan to lower utility costs and develop clean energy for New York so that New Yorkers have the money they need to get by and our children and grandchildren have a livable planet that they deserve. As your Governor and Lt. Governor we would: - Extend the moratorium on utility shutoffs. This is particularly important to prevent elderly residents from suffering heat stroke during the coming summer months. - Send a $200 rebate check to every low and middle income NY tax filer and their dependent. - Ensure energy is independent from corporate interests by passing the NY Build Public Renewables Act, which would help expand the ability of the state to own and generate renewable power, as well as provide renewable energy directly to state and municipal-leased and -owned properties and transportation.  - Provide tax credits and state subsidies for energy efficiency retrofits to low and moderate income households, which would immediately lower energy costs for both homeowners and tenants. - Make multi-billion dollar investments annually in our energy infrastructure to scale renewables by more than eight times their current market size by 2030. - And more! We don’t have a problem of scarcity, we have a problem of greed. We don’t have to accept what the billionaire class and corporate-backed politicians tell us is possible. This is a pivotal election for New York state. We can show that we have the courage to show up for each other and choose compassion and cooperation instead of selfishness and corruption. [Our communities can’t afford to wait any longer. We need champions who will help lower costs for working families and ensure all communities have access to clean energy, air, and water. Will you donate $5 today to send us to Albany to fight for all New York communities?]( Join us in this fight, -Jumaane and Ana Maria Paid for by PAID FOR BY JUMAANE FOR NEW YORK P.O.
