Our Lives Will Be Changed FOREVER Hey , Lionel Messi, you know, the greatest soccer player of all time, is coming to America to join Inter Miami in the MLS.  His introduction will completely change soccer in the U.S.  This is one of the closest things to a lock you will ever find – Messi’s arrival will boost interest in the league exponentially.  We are talking about the greatest player of all time, who will now be front and center in one of the biggest markets in the world (America).  Yes, soccer as a whole is not in the day to day lives of most Americans the way it is in Europe, but interest has been growing over the past two decades.  Interest has grown in large part due to star arrivals in the MLS such as David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (and availability to watch European games is way more prevalent than it was 10-20 years ago).  Look for Messi to have an even bigger influence than those players mentioned, and the best part about this is he is still REALLY REALLY good.  It was just six months ago that he won the World Cup with Argentina, and was named player of the tournament along the way.  His most recent club season with Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in France saw Messi accumulate 20 goals and 21 assists in 41 games.  Those are very good numbers, especially for someone who is 35 years old.  In terms of the financial boost – tickets, jerseys, and everything in between have already seen a huge boost for MLS teams, especially Inter Miami.  The demand to see him play will be off the charts, especially in the MLS stadiums which are smaller than a typical NFL stadium.  And of course, there will be much more betting interest.  I bet on many of the European games (quick note I like Man City to win the Champions League Final on Saturday) but I have not bet MLS before.  It is something I have considered looking into prior to Messi’s arrival, but I will be curious to see how much betting interest he brings.  There will likely be a lot of bettors gravitate towards betting on Messi/Inter Miami which is likely the wrong move.  Messi is a great player who can paper over a lot of cracks, but soccer is still a team sport.  More specifically, soccer is not won on paper.  Messi knows this better than anyone – his prior team, PSG, had on paper three great attackers in Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar, and yet they struggled on the whole throughout that tenure.  On a smaller scale there have been plenty of good players come to the MLS and struggle to win because they did not mesh will in the team.  Combine that with the fact that Inter is currently one of the worst teams in the MLS and it is by no means a guarantee that they will be any good.  That is my public address announcement on why you should not bet on Inter Miami.  However, I cannot wait to see Lionel Messi in the MLS, and to see all of the changes he creates.  Time to hop on the Inter Miami bandwagon!  Best regards, Olin G.
