SDG scores improve in 2023-24 but variation remains. Bihar at bottom, Odisha lags in education quality India’s overall Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) score on eliminating poverty, providing decent work, economic growth, improving education and healthcare, and other parameters has improved from 66 in 2020-21 to 71 in 2023-24, but there are wide variations among states. Some like Bihar and Jharkhand have scored as low as 24 and 28, respectively, in SDG 2 (zero hunger) while Bihar and Odisha have scored 32 and 40, respectively, in SDG 4 (quality education), according to a report released by government think-tank NITI Aayog Friday.There are a total of 16 SDGs directly linked to people’s welfare, well-being and quality of life. The SDGs were adopted in 2015 by all United Nations member countries.
