With some 1,200 people killed, many of them butchered, mutilated, and burnt, ZAKA’s mission has been to locate and identify every single body, every single human remains, to give them a name, and a proper burial. "This is our mission, this is what we fight for. We do not give up on anyone," says Barouch Niddam, director of ZAKA International. [SUPPORT ZAKA]( For more than a month, ZAKA volunteers have been active in the Israeli communities brutalized by Hamas terrorists, picking up the pieces that were once holy lives. They have retrieved hundreds of dead people, thousands of pieces of mutilated human remains, pursuing the goal of giving all of the victims the care and compassion they deserve. "I found the remains of a little girl," Baruch Niddam, director of ZAKA International, recalls. "All that was left of her was a foot and a sneaker." [ZAKA NEEDS YOU]( ZAKA has been working on the scenes of terror attacks for decades, but Oct. 7 was different. "We are talking about thousands of victims, about entering houses where whole families were shot, where we see pools of blood," said Israel Hasid, ZAKA Tel Aviv spokesperson. In order to continue to fulfill its holy mission, ZAKA and its hundreds of volunteers need support — now, and so it will be stronger next time. There is always a next time.
