- In cooperation with Chabad of Poland - B"H [Ukraine Jewish Relief Fund]( Winter Camp for Ukrainian Refugee Kids Chabad Lubavitch of Poland Dear Friend, Imagine meeting a nine-year-old child who witnessed missiles striking her home, who ran from her life as tanks rolled into her town, who left even her most prized possessions behind, never to see them again. My friends, as a rabbi in Poland, I don’t have to imagine. Thousands of children like the one I described have come to our doors. The look in their eyes is one that cannot be described, but whose meaning is all too clear: they have seen things no child should ever see, experienced things no child should ever experience. Their innocence has been robbed from them by the brutal war that they have fled. But you can ease their pain. This December and January, in coordination with Camp Yeka, dozens of Ukrainian refugee girls from ages 6-17 will be treated to a winter camp experience that they richly deserve, but that they could not have imagined a few short months ago. At Camp Yeka in Warsaw, Poland, they’ll be surrounded by trained and dedicated staff experienced in addressing trauma in bringing joy to children who have forgotten how to smile. Camp Yeka is a US-based organization that has been providing summer camp experiences for underprivileged Ukrainian children for many years. This year, with the need so acute, Chabad of Poland is partnering with them to create a new branch of Camp Yeka in Warsaw, serving the many Ukrainian refugees in the country. They’ll enjoy delicious meals, exciting trips and fun activities. They’ll develop a sense of Jewish pride and a love for our heritage. Whatever necessities they may be lacking will be provided—and of course, they won’t pay a cent. Chabad of Poland and Camp Yeka are underwriting the entire winter camp experience, to the tune of $65,000. That is why we’re turning to you.
