xactly one year ago, the very first edition of The Flyover took flight. It landed in exactly 47 inboxes, and nearly all of them belonged to our friends and family. ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ [The Flyover]( [Calendar] FRIDAY, MARCH 15, 2024 Good Morning! On this day in 2023, the very first edition of The Flyover landed in forty-seven inboxes. We made it to the one-year mark! The Editor can remember writing that first edition at the kitchen counter, wondering how far this little newsletter could go. Well, it went a long way in just one year, and we owe it all to you. We'll say more about this in a special message below, but we're truly thankful for your support. Thanks for making our first year great! If you haven't subscribed yet, you can do that here [with one click](. If you have any reflections on The Flyover's first year, hit reply and let us know. We want year two to be even better. [Take Off] Polls: Democrats Losing Black, Latino Support New research shows that Democrats' longtime advantage with Black, Latino, and Asian-American voters has shrunk to its lowest point in more than 60 years. [Here’s a look at the data trends.]( According to several polls, including Gallup and New York Times/Siena College, Black and Hispanic men may vote Republican in numbers not seen since President Dwight Eisenhower was elected in the 1950s. A Gallup survey last month showed that the Democratic Party’s wide lead over the GOP in Black Americans’ party preferences has shrunk by nearly 20 points over the past three years, with a similar decline among Hispanics. [Here's the survey results.]( Analysts attribute the decline partly to a generational change, with younger voters of color being both more conservative and less tied to the Civil Rights-era preferences of their parents and grandparents. [Article Icon 1] Starship Megarocket Hits Orbital Milestone SpaceX’s Starship megarocket, the largest and most powerful rocket ever built, [reached orbital speed](for the first time in its third test flight, hitting new milestones in development. The rocket is critical to NASA’s plans to return astronauts to the moon later this decade. The rocket and its boosters broke up before splashing down in the Indian Ocean, but the test was considered a success. The two previous launches both exploded before completing their mission objectives. [Article Icon 1] UFC Legend Saves Parents From Fire Ultimate Fighting [legend Mark Coleman]( was hospitalized Tuesday after repeatedly entering a burning house to save his parents and their dog. The Ohio home shared by Coleman, 59, and his parents caught fire early Tuesday morning. Coleman awoke and got his parents out of the house, but the Rottweiler, Hammer, didn’t survive. [The house burned down](. Coleman suffered injuries related to smoke inhalation and was transported by helicopter to a Toledo hospital. He was intubated, but by Thursday, he could breathe on his own. In a video released Thursday, Coleman said he was grateful his parents were still alive and called himself, “[the happiest man in the world](.” --------------------------------------------------------------- We're happy to report that The Flyover keeps growing, now surpassing 620,000 readers thanks to our advertisers and readers like you. ([More]() Dear Flyover Reader, We made it! Exactly one year ago, the very first edition of The Flyover took flight. It landed in exactly 47 inboxes, and nearly all of them belonged to our friends and family. This morning, we sent The Flyover to 622,745 readers! Here’s what we've learned: First: We have the best readers in America. You’ve told your friends about us, shared your feedback, voted in our polls, answered our trivia questions, clicked on our stories and advertisers, and encouraged us along the way. Explosive growth like this doesn’t just happen – you made it happen, and we’re so thankful for your readership and support, truly. Second: This is a lot of fun. I love coming to work and building something that people really want. We get to write about the entire news spectrum—deadly serious incidents, buried treasure, pictures of the galaxy, business, sports, and everything in between. I also hope that our joy and sincerity come through in our product: we’re not just doing this to earn a living—we really like it. We have enormous respect for our readers, and I hope that’s obvious when our edition lands in your inbox every morning. Third: Building an email newsletter isn’t easy. In the early days of The Flyover, yours truly would often fall asleep on the couch while writing, then wake up in a panic at 5 AM, crank out the rest of the edition, and hit send. It’s also difficult to get everything right. You surely notice when we make a mistake – and you let us know. Thank you! We are humble in our mistakes and work hard to get better every day. We’ve been blown away at your support, and The Flyover can’t possibly exist without it. We have big goals for the rest of 2024, and today I’m asking you to consider helping us make them happen. Will you help us hire more staff, create more state-specific editions, expand to seven days a week (Sunday edition!), and make The Flyover the best we possibly can by making a one-time, special anniversary donation today? To be clear: The Flyover will always be FREE. But your small (or large) donation - to help us celebrate our ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY - would go a long way towards keeping us in the air and flying to new destinations! I’d be personally grateful if you’d consider a donation. [Give $15]( [Give $50]( [Give $150]( [Give $500]( Whether or not you can contribute, we appreciate you!
