In an interview with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, New York Times Publisher A.G. [Take Off] [Article Icon 1] Storms Strike California Again [A second atmospheric river]( made its way through central and southern California, producing heavy rains, hail, strong winds, and tornadoes. The powerful winter storm is expected to produce up to 10 inches of rain along the central coast and in the Santa Lucia and Santa Ynez mountain ranges before moving south. Officials in Los Angeles issued a flash flood warning for the nearly 1 million residents in the area. Numerous incidents of flooded roads, downed trees and powerlines, and mudslides were reported. [Photos and videos can be seen here](. The last atmospheric river to hit California produced an [estimated $11 billion in damages](, but officials said the new storm is not quite as severe. [Article Icon 1] Pesticide Found in Oat-Based Foods Researchers believe [80% of Americans have been exposed]( to the plant pesticide chlormequat, a toxic agricultural chemical linked to fertility and birth issues in animals. The pesticide was found in popular oat-based breakfast cereals like Cheerios and Quaker Oats. Individuals from three geographic regions were tested [between 2017 and 2023](, and 80% of those tested had traces of chlormequat in their urine. Chlormequat is usually expelled by the body within 24 hours, but the high rate of positive tests indicated there was regular exposure. General Mills, the maker of Cheerios, and PepsiCo, the maker of Quaker Oats, [didn’t comment on the report](. [Article Icon 1] President Biden Upset with Media Coverage According to the publisher of the New York Times, the Biden administration is [“extremely upset”]( with the NYT's coverage of the President’s advanced age. “He is a historically unpopular incumbent and the oldest man to ever hold this office. We’ve reported on both of those realities extensively, and the White House has been extremely upset about it,” said A.G. Sulzberger. Questions surrounding Biden’s age intensified after Special Counsel Robert Hur released his report earlier this month. Hur described Biden as an [“elderly man with a poor memory](.” The report received pushback from the Biden team, including a letter to the White House Correspondents Association. --------------------------------------------------------------- We're happy to report that The Flyover keeps growing, now surpassing 600,000 readers thanks to our advertisers and readers like you.
