In its decision, the court said that whatever protections Trump may have had from prosecution as president, they no longer held now that he was a private citizen. They gave him until Monday to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. The prosecution is frozen until the [appeals process runs out](, so the case will continue to be delayed while Trump appeals. Prosecutors have said they’re concerned the delays will push the trial into election season or even past it. [Article Icon 1]Credit Card Debt Hits Record $1.13 Trillion Consumer credit card debt has [hit a record $1.13 trillion](, rising another $50 billion, or 5%, in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to a new report from the Federal Reserve in New York. Credit card delinquency soared as well, particularly among younger and lower-income borrowers. Part of the problem, analysts said, is that credit card interest rates have topped 20%, rising along with the Fed’s string of 11 rate hikes. Auto loan delinquencies also [spiked to their highest level]( since the Great Recession in 2009. “Even though the economy overall is doing great, there are pockets out there where people are overextended,” one analyst said.
