More than 40 nations saw declines. In the U.S., math scores dropped 13 points to one of the lowest marks ever recorded. However, U.S. students scored above the global average in reading and science. [Here's a chart comparing them.]( The OECD said the global performance drops were the steepest since 2000 when it first started testing 15-year-olds in reading, math, and science every three years. The group said the decline couldn’t be blamed entirely on COVID school closures, pointing also to the need for extra teacher support and rising mobile phone use in classes. Tommy Tuberville [dropped his hold]( on more than 400 military promotions Tuesday, and the Senate unanimously confirmed 425 of those nominees. Tuberville is still blocking 11 4-star generals. Despite heavy criticism, the Alabama senator has been blocking promotions for ten months in protest of a policy that allows service members to be reimbursed for abortion-related travel costs. That policy is still in place, and Tuberville says he hasn’t given up his fight. But he agreed to let almost all pending promotions go through while still [blocking advancement for top generals.]( [Article Icon 1] Fourth GOP Debate Tonight on NewsNation The fourth GOP presidential debate, now down to four candidates with Donald Trump abstaining again, [takes place tonigh](t on the fledgling NewsNation cable network. On stage will be Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Chris Christie. Trump [held a Town Hall]( on Fox News last night instead. NewsNation, and its sister CW Network, will telecast the debate starting at 8 p.m. ET.
