Credit card delinquencies rose as well. Compared year over year, credit card balances spiked by $154 billion as [more Americans carry debt from month to month]( or fall behind on payments in the face of higher prices for food, gas, and housing. After taking inflation into account, WalletHub says the current credit card debt isn't quite the highest in history.
