At least [25 Republicans said they wouldn’t vote]( for Emmer, and he could afford to lose only four votes. He follows previous nominees Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan in failing to win enough support. Last night, the GOP conference held another candidate forum to hear from six candidates, and it [nominated Rep. Mike Johnson]( (R-LA). After the vote (in which he receieved 128 votes, far more than any other candidate), Johnson said he's "very confident" he can get the 217 votes he needs on the House floor.
