Jim Jordan gained ground in his quest to become House Speaker, [winning support from several key GOP members]( who had previously opposed him. He still faces a difficult climb, but momentum shifted in his favor Monday. Among his new GOP supporters are Reps. Mike Rogers and Ann Wagner, who had both publicly vowed not to back him. Also openly on his side now are Rep. Vern Buchanan and Rep. Ken Calvert. Faced with this shift, Democrats launched an effort to defeat Jordan, [targeting 11 GOP incumbents]( from swing states with a robocall campaign. The vote is scheduled for today at noon ET. Ron DeSantis announced that nearly 300 American evacuees trapped in Israel arrived safely in Tampa Sunday ([see photos]() after he issued an executive order authorizing the rescue of Floridians. DeSantis directed the Florida Division of Emergency Management to [charter flights for stranded Florida residents]( and partnered with nonprofit rescue agency Project Dynamo to coordinate the effort. The governor has criticized the federal government for moving too slowly to evacuate Americans. DeSantis said he estimated 20,000 citizens, including up to 1,000 Floridians, remained in Israel. The technique, known as histotripsy, requires no needles, knives, drugs, or radiation. A series of trials showed that the procedure effectively destroys liver tumors without harming patients. The FDA approval means [hospitals can now buy]( the delivery platform, called Edison, for use with patients.
