Scalise beat out Trump-endorsed Judiciary Committee Chairman, Jim Jordan for the party’s support. After the election, several of Jordan’s backers claimed they would not vote for Scalise in the final vote, prompting [Republicans to call a recess]( as they look to secure the votes needed to proceed with their pick. Currently, the House is split 221 – 212, making it difficult for the GOP to secure the 217 votes needed for a majority decision. Rep.
