The 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit late Friday, [followed by a 3.9 magnitude aftershock]( on Sunday. Many residents of Marrakech were sleeping on the streets for fear of more aftershocks. The worst of the damage was in isolated mountain areas. Morocco hasn’t asked for international aid, but many countries [have offered assistance](. The country has accepted an offer of help from Spain, but it's unclear what other aid it will accept. The U.S. says it's ready to provide “significant assistance.” UAW Set to Strike by Thursday Night The United Auto Workers are four days away [from a major strike]( against General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis if an agreement isn’t reached by midnight on Thursday, a move that could greatly impact the economy. The UAW is asking for [a 46% raise over four years]( and a 32-hour work week, among other benefits. The carmakers have countered with raises between 10%-15% but say the other demands are too expensive. Many auto analysts say they expect the union to strike. This would halt car production and cost the Big 3 automakers at least $5 billion, while raising new car prices for consumers. Aging Djokovic, Teenaged Gauff Win at U.S. Open Novak Djokovic, 36, [won his 24th Grand Slam tennis title]( at the U.S. Open Sunday, beating Daniil Medvedev to take the all-time record for most major singles titles from Serena Williams. On the women’s side, 19-year-old Coco Gauff [won her first major title]( by defeating Aryna Sabalenka, who is set to become tennis' top-ranked women’s player. Gauff lost the first set and still won, which hasn't happened in over 20 years.
