The storms continued Tuesday across the country from Wyoming to Georgia. Air traffic was hit hard, with [more than 1,300 flights canceled]( and another 5,700 delayed as of last night. [The two deaths]( were a 15-year-old who died when a tree fell on him in South Carolina and a 28-year-old worker in Alabama who was struck by lightning. [Article Icon 2] Credit Card Debt Surpasses $1 Trillion American credit card debt [soared past $1 trillion]( for the first time in history at the end of June as people continue to spend with plastic. That's an increase of 5% from last quarter, fueled by high interest rates. The average credit card annual rate hit a new record of 20.33% last week. The previous record was 19% in July 1991. At the same time, consumer debt in general [grew $18 billion]( from May to June, double the $9.4 billion increase the previous month.
